What is the Christian Faith?

Christian life is lived in relationship with God through Jesus Christ, and in common with other Christians in the church seeking to deepen that relationship and to follow the way that Jesus taught.

For Christians God is understood and known as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

…Father… God is love, caring for creation and for every human being as God's beloved child.

…Son… God is as he has revealed himself to be in the historical person of Jesus Christ. Jesus' life, death and resurrection holds the key to knowing and loving God, and to making sense of life, before and after death.

…and Holy Spirit… God is alive, loving and active today, inspiring faith, justice and truth, sustaining the life of the world, giving spiritual gifts to the church and bearing his spiritual fruit in the world - changed lives and a transformed society.

For a number of years our aim has been:
Making new Christians and making all Christians new.
Taking the Church into the community and bringing the community into the Church.

However - we're always open to new ideas, so if you can think of a better aim for our Parishes of St. Peters and All Saints, please add a comment using the button below. It needs to sum up what we are here for in a couple of sentences and be easy to remember...

The Vicar, Steve Clapham

Steve was born in London, and was brought up in London, Essex and Devon.

He studied Computer Science at Portsmouth Polytechnic between 1980-1984, and at the age of 19 he became interested in the Christian faith. After reading and thinking very intensively he made a prayer of commitment and gave his life to Christ.

For over twenty years Steve has worked in Information Technology as a computer programmer, systems analyst, and up to 2004 as a Project Manager.

Steve is married to Christine, and they have four children: Paul, Jennifer, Daniel and Victoria. They also have two cats.

From 1990 to 2004 they were based in Stockport, and were involved with a church plant which met in a local pub, local mission churches and two parish churches. As the family grew they became more involved, playing guitar and flute together in worship. In 1996 Steve was licensed as a Reader, and later changed direction and was accepted for Ordained Ministry.

From 2004 to 2006 Steve was curate at St. Mary’s, Nantwich before being selected as Vicar at All Saints and St. Peters in Crewe. In 2008 Steve was appointed the Chaplain to Crewe Alexandra football club.

Steve’s main hobby is wine making – so if anyone has any spare fruit available he’s always pleased to have it. He also loves science fiction, listening to music, playing guitar and playing flight simulator games on the computer, because in reality – he’s a frustrated fighter pilot!
